Vertical receiver units
The tank’s gallon or litre rating does not define the outside envelope. Include the pump, belt guard and top-mounted motor, then mark the required skirt height and drain-access position.
Specify a cover around the complete compressor—not just its tank size. DERFLEX supports custom air compressor tarp covers using PVC coated polyester, with shaped panels, reinforced edges, access openings and fastening details reviewed against your equipment.
For compressor manufacturers, dealers, rental fleets and cover fabricators. Share the model, dimensions, photos and intended use to discuss material supply or a finished cover quotation. Storage and transport require different fit and restraint decisions.

An air compressor tarp cover is a removable fabric enclosure or shaped tarp used to reduce exposure to dust, rain and storage dirt while a compressor is out of service. Fit depends on the entire equipment profile, including gauges, handles, wheels and connected accessories.
A waterproof outer fabric is only one part of the specification. Seams, openings, drainage and moisture release determine how the finished cover manages weather. A storage cover also requires a separate review before use on moving equipment.
Choose the protection task first. Then agree the fabric, cover shape and closure layout together; extra material weight alone cannot resolve a poor fit or an exposed opening.
| Use condition | Cover direction | Details to prioritize | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indoor standby / dealer stock | Removable dust cover with a practical installation allowance. | Control-panel clearance, clean contact surfaces and easy identification. | Removal frequency, storage humidity and whether hoses remain attached. |
| Outdoor stationary storage | Fitted or semi-fitted PVC cover with a defined lower edge. | Rain-shedding top, protected openings, abrasion patches and suitable anchors. | Sun, rain, wind exposure and an inspection / moisture-management plan. |
| Rental-fleet turnaround | Model-specific cover that staff can repeatedly fit and remove. | Front/rear marks, accessible closures and wear protection at frame corners. | Differences between models and the sample installation sequence. |
| Shipment / open-deck movement | Project-defined transport cover after a securement review. | Loose-fabric control, edge protection and reinforced attachment locations. | Transport mode, route exposure, handling method and equipment tie-down plan. |
For large frames or combined compressor packages, compare the broader heavy machinery cover design considerations.
The tank’s gallon or litre rating does not define the outside envelope. Include the pump, belt guard and top-mounted motor, then mark the required skirt height and drain-access position.
Measure handles and wheel width in the actual storage position. Agree whether the cover stops above the wheels or includes them, and where loose cords and hoses are stored.
Record the full cabinet, dryer or receiver arrangement. Mark doors, corners and pipe exits. A slip-on hood needs a clear removal route without pulling against fixed connections.
Identify the exact equipment boundary: compressor only, skid or the whole parked assembly. Show lifting eyes, tow components and separate tie-down points on the drawing.
A rectangular cabinet may suit a fitted box-cover configuration; tanks and projecting accessories may need a shaped pattern.
PVC coated polyester combines a reinforced textile with a coated outer face and compatible welded-seam options. Select the grade for handling, weather exposure and the proposed fabrication method.
There is no single GSM for every air compressor. Ask for the candidate material’s weight, thickness, base-fabric construction and relevant test data. A heavier sheet increases handling weight and does not automatically improve fit, closure performance or moisture control.
State required UV exposure, low-temperature flexibility or flame performance during quotation. Any specified standard and acceptance level must be confirmed for the selected grade.
Review the DERFLEX PVC tarpaulin material range as the starting point for fabric selection.
| Specification | What to agree |
|---|---|
| Material | PVC coated polyester grade; weight, thickness, finish and color confirmed with the quotation. |
| Finished fit | Maximum envelope, cover drop, installation allowance, dimensions and measurement tolerances. |
| Seams | Panel layout, compatible welded joins, and weather detailing at sewn attachments or closures. |
| Reinforcement | Frame-contact patches, protected corners, reinforced hems and attachment zones. |
| Openings | Inspection flap, zipper, pipe exit or protected vent locations, subject to design review. |
| Fastening | Straps, buckles, webbing, grommets or D-rings matched to suitable anchor positions. |
| Supply | Roll fabric, cut panels or finished covers; quantity, labels, packing and destination. |
| Acceptance | Approved sample, fit checks and any agreed material, seam or finished-cover tests. |

Avoid unsupported pockets between the tank and motor or across a flat cabinet. Review the top shape and seam direction so rain has a route off the cover.
Provide space around gauges, switches and couplings. Local patches protect the cover at known contact points; they do not make delicate components suitable anchors.
Place a flap where staff need inspection access while the unit is off. Check overlap direction and closure reach. Compare zipper and access-panel details before pattern approval.
Let the equipment cool and dry before covering. Review skirt clearance, protected vents and periodic inspection. A solid waterproof fabric should not be treated as a breathable membrane.
Recently used heads, motors and exhaust components need cool-down according to the equipment manual. A removable tarp is not an acoustic enclosure, operating housing or heat shield.
Keep grit away from the inner contact surface. Agree compatible cleaning methods for the chosen grade, dry before folding and inspect seams, rubbing areas and hardware before reuse.
A fitted storage hood is not automatically a transport cover. Airflow, vibration, rubbing and loading operations change the design brief.
Compressor tie-downs and lifting arrangements must follow the equipment and transport requirements. Tarp handles, eyelets and seams are not lifting points or a substitute for securing the machine.
Review reinforced attachments, loose fabric, sharp edges and contact surfaces. State whether the cover stays fitted during loading and identify how lifting eyes, straps and labels remain accessible.
A swatch can approve color and material feel. A fitted sample is needed to review geometry, access and installation before a bulk or OEM cover program.
Agree the test method and acceptance criteria for any water, seam, strength or exposure requirement. A fit trial alone does not verify every performance claim.

No. Remove the storage cover completely before operating the compressor. Fit it only after shutdown, isolation and cool-down according to the equipment manual. Vent openings or an access flap do not make a storage tarp an approved operating enclosure.
PVC coated fabric provides a water-resistant barrier, but finished-cover performance also depends on seams, closures, pipe exits and drainage. Specify the required rain exposure and any water test during quotation. Waterproof fabric does not prevent condensation beneath a cover.
Measure the complete outside length, width and height, including the pump, motor, guard, fittings, handles and wheels. Tank capacity alone cannot establish cover size. Provide the model and marked photos, then agree cover drop and fit allowance on the drawing.
Only after both duties have been reviewed. Transport introduces movement, airflow and abrasion that a stationary storage design may not address. Specify the transport mode, handling points and cover anchors, and keep equipment restraint separate from tarp retention.
Reinforced PVC coated polyester is a material direction to review for reusable outdoor storage. Choose the actual grade with its weight, thickness, strength, flexibility and exposure requirements. Confirm seams, openings and fastening together; GSM alone is not a finished-cover performance rating.
DERFLEX supports drawing-based custom tarp projects and PVC material supply. Send compressor details, quantity, required openings, reinforcement, color, branding and destination. Finished-cover feasibility, sample arrangements, MOQ and production timing are confirmed for the agreed specification.
Purchasing protection for mixed equipment fleets? Review generator storage-cover considerations alongside the compressor-specific brief.
Tell DERFLEX what stays connected, where the equipment is stored and how it moves. A clear fit and use brief helps define material, construction and sampling requirements before bulk purchasing.
