What is an IBC tote tarp cover?
An IBC tote tarp cover is a fitted exterior fabric cover placed over an intermediate bulk container and its cage to reduce exposure to rain, dust and sunlight. Custom access flaps can leave the fill cap and discharge valve usable. It is separate from the liquid-holding bottle and any spill-containment system.
Will one cover fit 275-gallon, 330-gallon and 1000-liter IBC totes?
Do not assume that it will. Capacity labels describe stored volume, not a universal outside size. Measure each cage, pallet, cap and valve arrangement, and approve a separate fit drawing where the geometry differs. Mark gallons as US or Imperial and use one dimension unit throughout.
Can I fill and drain the tote without removing its cover?
Yes, if the approved design includes correctly positioned access openings. The top flap must clear the cap and filling equipment; the lower opening must clear the valve handle, coupling and hose bend. Close and secure the flaps after use, and keep the container's required vents unobstructed.
Are IBC tote covers waterproof around zippers and openings?
A waterproof PVC fabric does not make every finished opening watertight. Rain protection depends on seam construction, flap overlap, closure orientation and fit. Specify the intended exposure and agree a finished-cover spray check; an open flap or hose pass-through can admit water.
Does an opaque cover prevent algae or protect drinking water?
An opaque cover can reduce light reaching the bottle when the complete design blocks light at seams, windows and openings. That may help limit conditions that support algae, but it does not clean or disinfect water. A cover does not establish that the tote or its contents are suitable for drinking-water use.
Will a standard tarp cover stop an IBC from freezing?
No. A standard single-skin tarp cover is an exterior weather cover, not a temperature-control system. If freezing or overheating is a concern, provide the operating temperature requirements and review a suitable thermal solution separately. Any heater or cable interface needs approval for the actual equipment and use.
What are the MOQ, sample requirements and lead time?
Ask DERFLEX to confirm these against the cover drawing, material, number of access details, quantity and destination. For a new geometry, request a material swatch and discuss a fitted prototype before bulk production. Pricing, sample terms and production timing are confirmed in the quotation rather than assumed from a standard retail cover.
