Dry Bags Built Around Real-World Use

DERFLEX supports custom dry bag programs for outdoor brands, importers, distributors, marine suppliers and promotional projects. Choose durable PVC, flexible TPU or lightweight coated textile constructions, then align the material, closure, capacity, carrying system and branding with the way the finished bag will actually be used.

Product development logic

Start with the exposure level—not the bag color.

“Dry bags” cover very different products. A lightweight sack used inside a hiking backpack does not need the same structure as a river bag dragged across a raft, a marine duffel placed on a wet deck, or a zippered gear case intended for temporary submersion. The correct solution begins with use conditions, carrying load and closure design.

DERFLEX helps buyers define the shell material and processing route before sampling. For value-driven and high-wear programs, PVC coated polyester is often practical. For premium products that prioritize lower weight, softer folding and cold-weather flexibility, TPU coated nylon or polyester may be considered. Lightweight coated textiles can suit inner dry sacks and pack organization where abrasion exposure is lower.

Roll-top protection and submersible protection are not the same.

A correctly folded roll-top can provide reliable protection from rain, splash, spray and short accidental contact with water. It is not automatically designed for prolonged underwater use. A submersible bag normally requires a suitable waterproof zipper or specialized closure, sealed construction and finished-product testing under the intended conditions.

Responsible product wording: final claims such as “submersible,” an IP rating or a specific waterproof depth should only be used after the completed bag—not only the fabric—has passed the relevant test method.

Roll-goods manufacturing support

Material structure, surface finish, roll width, color and packaging can be aligned with the converting factory’s welding, cutting and printing workflow.

OEM workflow

Reduce uncertainty before the bulk order.

A clearer brief leads to faster material matching, more meaningful samples and fewer changes after tooling or printing begins.

01

Define the use

Share the bag type, capacity, carrying load, water exposure, temperature range and intended sales channel.

02

Match the structure

Compare PVC, TPU or lightweight coated textile options together with closure, seam and reinforcement design.

03

Confirm the sample

Review hand feel, folding, weld quality, logo appearance, strap loading and finished-bag water performance.

04

Prepare production

Confirm color tolerance, packaging, labeling, inspection criteria, quantity and repeat-order requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Dry bag sourcing FAQ

What material is commonly used to make dry bags?

PVC coated polyester, TPU coated nylon or polyester, and lightweight PU/TPU-coated textiles are common choices. PVC is often selected for durability and commercial cost control, while TPU is considered for lower weight, flexibility and premium positioning. Lightweight coated textiles are useful for pack-organizer sacks with lower abrasion exposure.

Are all roll-top dry bags suitable for submersion?

No. Roll-top bags are generally developed for rain, splash, spray and short accidental water exposure. Long or deep submersion can allow water to enter through the closure. A submersible claim requires a suitable closure, sealed construction and finished-product testing.

Can DERFLEX support custom logos and colors?

Custom colors, Pantone matching, matte or glossy surfaces, selected embossing, printing and private-label packaging can be discussed according to the material, logo process and order quantity. A physical sample is recommended for visual approval.

Can PVC and TPU dry bag fabric be welded?

Many PVC and TPU coated fabrics are intended for welding. Depending on the material construction and factory equipment, HF, hot-air or ultrasonic welding may be evaluated. Welding temperature, pressure, speed and seam width should be tested with the actual production machine.

What dry bag sizes can be developed?

Common dry bag programs range from compact 2L organizers to 100L or larger gear duffels. Capacity alone does not determine dimensions; shape, opening width, roll allowance, seam layout and carrying load should all be included in the pattern design.

What tests should be considered before bulk production?

Depending on the product, buyers may consider seam peel strength, water ingress, hydrostatic fabric testing, strap loading, buckle function, zipper leakage, abrasion, color fastness, cold folding and repeated roll-top cycling. The final test plan should match the claims and intended market.

Does DERFLEX sell material rolls or finished custom bags?

DERFLEX’s core strength is coated textile and waterproof material supply. For custom dry bag programs, the team can discuss material matching, sample development and coordinated OEM production according to the project scope. Confirm whether your quotation requires roll goods, converted components or finished bags.

Develop a dry bag that fits your market.

Tell DERFLEX the product type, capacity, use environment, material preference, logo, quantity and destination. Receive a project-oriented discussion instead of a generic one-size-fits-all recommendation.

Product performance, test level, compliance and final claims depend on the confirmed material, bag construction, closure, manufacturing process and finished-product verification.
