Solid manure piles
For manure accumulated before spreading or removal. A custom waterproof manure cover with side drops and secure edges can limit direct wetting during storage.
Custom manure storage tarps for solid manure piles, farm storage pads and seasonal livestock waste stockpiles. Specify the cover around the way rain moves, how often the pile is accessed and where the perimeter can safely be secured.
DERFLEX supplies PVC coated polyester tarp material, fabricated panels and OEM cover programs, with custom finished dimensions, welded joins and reinforced edge options.
The purpose is to separate exposed solid manure from direct precipitation while making it possible to uncover, load, inspect and manage the stored material.
A suitable design considers storage-base drainage, pile shape, rain shedding, edge anchoring, treatment stage and movement of equipment. Even a fully waterproof fabric does not by itself prevent runoff, seepage or emissions. General manufacturer and multi-system options are covered separately in DERFLEX’s custom manure cover tarp guide.
Start with what happens underneath the cover. A tarp that performs well over a stored, stable pile may not suit an actively composting windrow or a liquid-storage facility.
For manure accumulated before spreading or removal. A custom waterproof manure cover with side drops and secure edges can limit direct wetting during storage.
For livestock facilities using a defined pad or bay. Use practical removable sections, tie-down lines away from vehicle paths and clearly identified access edges.
Composting needs aerobic conditions. Consider breathable compost fleece or managed ventilation rather than assuming an impermeable tarp should stay tightly sealed.
A standard loose tarp is not a floating lagoon cover. Liquid levels, rain loads, gas hazards, agitation, access and anchoring need a qualified system design.
For broad farm storage requirements beyond manure, explore DERFLEX’s heavy-duty storage tarps and their drainage, handling and anchoring considerations.
Select the material for the biological and operational job, then confirm reinforcement and finished dimensions. No single fabric type is appropriate for every manure-management system.
| Cover direction | Suitable starting point | Critical qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PVC coated polyester | Reusable weather covers over solid manure; custom welded panels and reinforcements | Non-breathable; check trapped moisture, condensate, contact compatibility, wind and access |
| Woven PE tarpaulin | Shorter-term or budget-sensitive solid-pile rain cover where handling weight is a priority | Grade and UV stabilization vary; do not assume equal tear life or welded-cover construction |
| Breathable compost fleece | Active aerobic compost or windrows needing rain shedding with vapor and air exchange | Different product category; qualify microbial process and compost-cover performance separately |
| Engineered geomembrane | Liquid manure, lagoon surface or gas-management system | System engineering, gas safety, rainwater handling, penetrations and anchoring mandatory |
These are commercial specification directions for discussion, not a stocked SKU sheet. Confirm every numerical target, finished detail and test requirement in the approved quotation and sample.
| Specification item | DERFLEX supply direction | What the buyer should confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Core material | Double-side PVC coated polyester fabric | Solid-pile use, direct manure contact or suspended/weather-only cover |
| Indicative weight | Approx. 450–900 gsm commonly considered within related DERFLEX agricultural cover programs; other grades upon project review | Cover span, crew lifting capability, repeated dragging, wind and life-cycle objective |
| Reinforcement | Polyester base fabric; yarn construction matched to duty | Required tensile strength, tear strength and attachment loads |
| Finished size | Custom rectangular, segmented or shaped panel | Net finished size, coverage path, drop depth, tie-down line and tolerance |
| Water protection | Waterproof coated fabric; heat-welded join option | Drainage slope, seam design, edge runoff route and cover installation |
| Exposure | UV, mildew-oriented or cold-flexible grades can be reviewed | Climate, duration, actual requested test method and target criteria |
| Edges & hardware | Webbing, hems, corner pads, grommets, D-rings, straps or ballast pockets | Anchoring concept, spacing design, snag hazards and routine removal |
| Order format | Fabric rolls, cut panels, finished covers or private-label programs | MOQ, batch size, labeling, packaging and dispatch terms confirmed by quote |
For alternative farm dimensions, finishing and OEM programs, review custom agricultural cover fabrication.
A manure storage tarp should make rainfall leave the covered zone predictably—not create a reservoir on top or route runoff back into the manure.
Conceptual cross-section · not a structural drawing. Drainage, anchor loads and environmental controls must be confirmed for the installation.
Record actual crest-to-edge measurements; a flat footprint alone does not describe how fabric drapes over a pile.
Keep the lifting and folding route clear of loader tracks, gates, drains and other operational hazards.
Consider surface contamination, cleaning method and where removed panels can be placed hygienically.
Agree on seam positions and abrasion zones before large sheets are joined, not after delivery.

A practical quotation starts with the pile and the operating routine. Provide these details to reduce assumptions before sampling or fabrication.
If you need roll material instead of finished covers, include preferred width, weight, color, surface finish and converting method. A sample or a dimensioned sketch is especially useful.
Is this a solid pile rain cover, a reusable pad cover or an aerobic compost operation? Record environmental and handling conditions.
Discuss PVC coated polyester grade, fabric weight, coating, UV exposure and the practical handling load.
Confirm net finished dimensions, seam orientation, edge reinforcement, grommet/D-ring locations and access zones.
Set sample checks, required test data, tolerances, order quantity, branding and export packaging in the purchase documentation.
DERFLEX connects coated-fabric supply with custom panel fabrication and repeat B2B procurement. Buyers can discuss base fabric, coating, dimensions, finishing, OEM packaging and production consistency within one material specification process.
Quality evaluation can include requested tensile and tear data, coating consistency, welded-seam compatibility and approval of the finished edge detail. Test methods and acceptance limits should be established before ordering.
Discuss your storage cover ↗For a liquid manure tank, anaerobic lagoon or methane recovery project, request an engineered cover system. A weather tarp does not provide gas-pressure design, certified gas containment, safe entry procedures or rainwater pumping infrastructure.
DERFLEX has a distinct biogas digester cover membrane material program for qualified system designers and OEM integrators. For a solid pile, keep the enquiry focused on removable weather protection instead.
Site plans should follow local manure storage, runoff, worker safety and environmental requirements. A textile supplier's material quotation does not replace project engineering or permitting.
Short answers to questions that affect material selection, storage management and quotation accuracy.
A manure cover is a flexible sheet or purpose-designed cover placed over stored manure to reduce direct rain exposure and help manage the storage surface. For solid stacks, a removable weather tarp can be used; active compost and liquid manure systems require different material and engineering decisions.
PVC coated polyester is a practical option for many reusable solid manure pile covers because it offers a waterproof coated surface, textile reinforcement and weldable panels. Select weight, seam layout and reinforcement according to the pile geometry, wind and handling frequency.
Not automatically. Active aerobic composting needs moisture and oxygen management. A breathable, rain-shedding compost fleece or a managed aeration and covering system may be more suitable than a continuously sealed PVC sheet.
A well-installed cover can reduce direct rainfall entering a solid manure pile, but it does not replace an impermeable base, runoff collection, management of seepage or local environmental controls. Odor outcomes depend on storage, moisture, aeration and cover system design; no emission-reduction percentage is guaranteed.
No. A manure slurry lagoon, pit or digester needs an engineered membrane system with load, drainage, gas management, agitation access and worker-safety provisions. A loose solid-pile tarp must not be substituted for that system.
Share storage type, pile or pad dimensions and profile, required cover drops, weather exposure, handling frequency, attachment method, preferred material, quantity, delivery destination and any relevant drawings or compliance requirements.
