What must remain open?
Identify the openings and airflow paths that the project ventilation concept requires. Account for the screen, frame, overlapping panels and adjacent obstructions.
Application guide · Car park exteriors
PVC facade mesh can be evaluated for parking garage exterior screens where a project needs visual screening, partial outward views and air passage. DERFLEX supplies PVC coated polyester mesh materials for review by facade fabricators, system contractors and project procurement teams.
A car park facade is a coordinated assembly. Material openness, covered area, panel frames and the building layout all influence the ventilation assessment. The selected mesh also needs suitable mechanical data, exposure evidence, fire documentation and processing trials. Send elevation drawings, project location and material requirements so DERFLEX can review roll-supply options alongside the contractor’s facade concept.

Before the sample request
Identify the openings and airflow paths that the project ventilation concept requires. Account for the screen, frame, overlapping panels and adjacent obstructions.
Define the desired view from outside, the view from inside and any glare or light-screening objective. Compare actual mesh and color samples in representative conditions.
Coordinate span, orientation, frame, edges, attachment and access. Obtain reference-specific material data for the facade engineer’s review.
DERFLEX’s architectural material range and PVC mesh supply range support the initial material discussion. System engineering and installation requirements remain part of the project brief.
Ventilation & visual screening
Mesh openness alone cannot prove that a parking garage has sufficient ventilation. The assessment needs the actual screen coverage, opening layout, frame obstructions and building configuration, together with the applicable project requirements.
Prepare an elevation showing mesh zones, unscreened zones, solid elements, ramps and obstructed bays. Keep panel overlaps and support members visible in the drawing rather than applying a fabric percentage to the entire elevation.
Where material air-permeability data is requested, specify the test pressure and method. The building engineer decides how that information is used in the complete assessment.
View direction, mesh color, lighting contrast and distance change what can be seen through a screen. A sample that hides vehicles in daylight may look different when the garage is lit after dark.
For related solar-screening objectives, consult architectural sunshade mesh fabrics. Use a mock-up to test the intended appearance rather than relying only on a small swatch.
Application planning
| Facade zone | Primary concern | Information needed for material review |
|---|---|---|
| Open parking bays | Ventilation and vehicle screening | Coverage drawing, opening arrangement, target visual screening and frame concept. |
| Ramps and entrances | Access, visibility and operational clearance | Vehicle route, sight lines, openings and clearance requirements. |
| Street-facing elevation | Architectural appearance and lighting contrast | Approved color, daytime/night-time mock-up and lighting arrangement. |
| Corners and exposed faces | Local wind effects and attachment behavior | Engineer’s load requirements, panel geometry and edge details. |
| Branded or graphic panels | Print compatibility and long-term appearance | Final artwork, selected finish, ink/process trial and documentation needs. |
| Maintenance and service openings | Access and panel replacement | Removable-zone drawing, cleaning access and replacement procedure. |
The mesh is a screening material. Vehicle barriers, pedestrian guards, rain exclusion and fire separation must be addressed by the appropriate project systems; they are not established by a mesh supply quotation.
Material supply & system design
DERFLEX’s material scope is the coated fabric proposal, reference-specific data review, sample discussion and roll-supply quotation. Describe any conversion needs so the achievable supply scope can be confirmed.
The project designer and system contractor coordinate the frame, attachment system, pretension, structural assessment, installation and local approvals. This distinction makes material quotations easier to compare.
Use the proposed fabric reference, orientation and finish with the intended joining and edge process. Review flatness, visible seams, tensioning behavior and access for removal.
Solid canopies or rooftop covered-parking membranes have different duties. Review PVC coated polyester architectural membranes where the requirement is a waterproof roof rather than an open facade screen.
| Coordination item | Material enquiry | Project design / contractor input |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical properties | Warp/weft data and dimensional behavior | Loads, panel orientation and design acceptance. |
| Panel dimensions | Usable width and processing compatibility | Frame layout, cut compensation and joint locations. |
| Edges and corners | Representative material trial | Attachment geometry and load transfer details. |
| Fire evidence | Documents available for the proposed material | Required assessment for the actual facade assembly. |
| Operation and maintenance | Cleaning guidance and replacement-material records | Access, removal sequence and building operations plan. |
Sample review
Specify whether the car park facade is intended to provide a neutral surface, a branded graphic or a stronger visual screen. The same appearance objective can lead to different material, print and panel choices.
Roller fabrics and carport shading are adjacent applications. Compare exterior screen fabrics when the project includes movable shades; do not assume their operating requirements match fixed facade panels.
Use DERFLEX’s quality control approach as the starting point for order inspection discussions. Confirm the data, acceptance criteria and required evidence for the actual material reference.

Procurement scope
| Cost item | Question to include in the comparison |
|---|---|
| Mesh material | Is the same reference, finish, usable width and quantity basis quoted? |
| Fabrication | Are cutting, joining, edge processing and mock-up work included? |
| Supporting system | Are frames, attachments and engineered interfaces included? |
| Installation | Are access equipment, working hours and site conditions comparable? |
| Documentation | Which tests, assessments and sample approvals are included? |
| Maintenance & replacement | How can panels be cleaned, removed and matched later? |
Textile facade screening and metal mesh can be compared only after the complete scope is defined. Ask DERFLEX for the material quotation and obtain the system and installation costs from the responsible contractor.
Operation planning
The maintenance plan should cover edges, seams, attachments and visible fabric changes. Review any loose or damaged panel with the system contractor before it worsens.
Ask for guidance for the chosen finish and print system. Trial the method on a sample; avoid assuming that aggressive solvents or high-pressure cleaning are suitable.
Keep the approved reference, color swatch, orientation, drawings and batch information. Agree replacement matching expectations, including the effect of outdoor aging.
Project answers
It can be evaluated as a textile facade screening material when the selected fabric and complete installation satisfy the project’s structural, ventilation, fire and durability requirements. DERFLEX supplies coated fabric materials; the facade engineer and system contractor define and approve the installation.
No. Fabric openness is only one input. Frames, overlapping panels, obstructed openings, facade coverage, the building layout and pressure differences affect ventilation. The project engineer must assess the required ventilation with the actual facade configuration.
No. Open mesh allows water passage and cannot create a waterproof wall. Review driving-rain exposure, drainage, equipment protection and any areas that require a separate weather barrier.
No. A visual screening material is not automatically a vehicle restraint, pedestrian guard or fall-protection system. Keep those systems separately specified and verify any additional protective function through the relevant project design and evidence.
No. Compare complete project costs, including material, framing, engineering, fabrication, installation access, cleaning and replacement. A fabric-only price cannot establish an installed cost advantage. DERFLEX can quote the material scope after the specification is defined.
Printable PVC mesh options are available in DERFLEX’s published mesh range. For a permanent facade, confirm the exact mesh finish, ink process, color approval and exposure requirements. Recheck openness and any required documentation for the final printed material rather than assuming banner performance is sufficient.
Send elevation drawings, project location, facade area, panel dimensions, frame concept, ventilation and fire requirements, target color and visual screening, fabrication scope, quantity and installation schedule. State whether you need roll material or want to discuss conversion requirements.
Parking garage material enquiry
Send the garage location, elevation area and proposed panel arrangement. Add the ventilation concept, required documentation and visual-screening target so the enquiry describes the actual project.
