GSM tells you nominal mass per square meter. It does not tell you how that mass is distributed between base cloth and PVC, how dense the weave is, how stable the coating is, or what surface and functional additives are included.

650 GSM is often discussed for truck covers, industrial covers and general heavy-duty work because it can balance coated mass, flexibility, welding and handling. The most useful comparison is a complete 650 GSM construction, not the weight label alone.

At 650 GSM, nominal fabric mass is about 6,500 kg. At 900 GSM, it is about 9,000 kg. The 900 GSM option adds about 2,500 kg before cores, packaging or pallets. That difference can affect freight, warehouse handling and finished-cover weight even before you compare the material unit price.
